Education

Veronica Sawarynksi, violinist, fell in love with the violin at 6 under her vibrant teacher, Alliree Meyers. Other teachers include Basil Vendryes, Yumi Hwang-Williams, Linda Wang, Matt Means (DU); Lina Bahn (CU Boulder); and Simin Ganatra (U. of Illinois CU).


Veronica received Suzuki certification under James Maurer (2003-2007), and has a private studio year-round.  Teaching highlights include coaching chamber music and orchestra for Boulder Suzuki Strings, coaching at Fort Hays State University (FHSU)’s High Plains Music Camp, and coaching chamber ensembles for University of Illinois’ Academy.

Orchestral Experience

Veronica held positions including Concertmaster of Lakewood Symphony (2007-2011); Principal 2nd, Denver Philharmonic (2007-2008); 1st Violin, Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (2013-2015).  Current positions include 1st Violin, Boulder Philharmonic (2008-present), Violin, Opera Colorado (2013-present), and Substitute for Central City Opera (2015-present). 

Recent orchestral highlights include a trip with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra to participate in the first Shift Festival of Orchestras, held in Washington, D.C. in late March/early April 2017.  In addition to performing with the orchestra under conductor Michael Butterman at the Kennedy Center to a sold out crowd, she performed an outdoor concert with the Boulder Philharmonic Education Quartet as part of the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Unique Collaborations

In April 2015, she performed first violin on Elvis Costello’s Juliet Letters for quartet and voice with FHSU faculty, and coached university students during the Cottonwood Festival at Fort Hays. Veronica also performs with Sphere Ensemble (2015-present), a string ensemble presenting diverse programs and outreach to the Denver area.  Additionally, she performs with the Boulder Philharmonic String Quartet/Blue Spruce Quartet, presenting engaging outreach performances each fall.  She is looking forward to presenting Stone Soup and The Ugly Duckling in collaboration with Blue Spruce Quartet and the Boulder Ballet in the future.
